The Trip

The trip begins from the boat yard of Wanchese, North Carolina where the yacht was built. Our first test run will be up to see a good friend of mine, John Vaughn and his wife Cheri in Washington, NC to work out the kinks of the new boat and learn all of the systems aboard.  A second test run will be up to Virginia Beach to see the city and the head Jiu Jitsu instructor that is over the gym I train at here in Augusta. Then it's back to the boat yard to store the boat until the spring.

We had originally planned to take the boat south around the tip of Florida in the Keys and back up the Gulf of Mexico into the Tennessee Tombigbee River; Hurricane Irma made that change for us.

While on the trip, we will be documenting through pictures and videos. I plan to visit points of interest in the many different cities we visit. We will have bicycles to cruise around town to see what we can while either docked for lunch or the night.
As we eat at different bars and restaurants, we will let you know the ones to make sure you eat at or the ones you sure need to avoid. Both food and service will be rated. A point system will be used where I will rate on atmosphere, service and quality of food.

We also will be seeking out funny and neat boat names to add to the continually growing book of “Great Boat Names” that I have been compiling.

Boat names are interesting. They are usually a play on words and are derived from one’s work or interests. My ski boat is named  ”A-RREST-N” which is based on my retirement and job with the GBI. Over the years, anytime I was on the intercostal or visiting friends in coastal cities, I would take pictures of neat boat names.  They have been compiled in a picture book. The first book is available for a small phenomenal fee to cover the cost of printing. I am working on the second volume which will be available after this trip is complete.
